New Visions for Public Schools' vision for student support services is that all learners have equal access to educational opportunities where barriers to learning are reduced and learner diversity is recognized, supported, and embraced. Our mission is to partner with school communities to advance this common approach.

Our theory of change is as follows, if we...

  • facilitate the gathering of communities of practice to develop common approaches to reducing barriers and recognizing, supporting, and embracing learner diversity,

  • collaborate with school communities and cross-organizational staff to curate resources that are in alignment with best practices in special education and ENL education, and

  • strategically share information and provide need-based support

then,

  • school communities will increase opportunities for adult collaboration and individualized student supports,

  • teacher practice will improve by developing instructional strategies that reduce barriers to learning, and

  • student skill development, content knowledge, and access to postsecondary opportunities will increase.

In addition to typical measures of student success, we'll know we've accomplished this when...

  • school communities, and students themselves, speak from a strengths-based perspective and learner diversity is valued.
